程 step 1 warm-up: sing the song in this unit. step 2 preview: let’s check. listen to the tape and circle the right pictures. step 3 presentation: let’s read. 1. show the big picture, saying: “today, let’s get to know two kinds of whales, sperm whales and killer whales.” watch the picture for 2 minutes. then ask: “ how long are they? how heavy are they? let’s read and answer.” 2. after they finished reading, get them to answer the three questions. go on asking more questions: how many teeth do they have, do you know? how long is each tooth? what does a sperm whale eat? what does a killer whale eat? what can they do? ……. 3. play the tape and then read. 4. discuss any difficulty the students ask. 5. finish the exercises. 6. match and say. say sentences like this: how big is your fish, zhang peng? my fish is smaller than sarah’s? step 4 consolidation and extension: 1. listen to the tape and read the text. do exercises in activity book.
